When I was six, I started a new school with a brand new uniform. Navy blue pinafore, white frilly socks, black Mary Janes. Every morning, I’d clip a blue silk bow in my hair. It matched perfectly. But one afternoon, after playing at lunchtime, it was gone. We went back to the shop, but they didn’t sell them anymore. I still wander into ribbon shops, looking for that exact shade of blue. I’ve never found it. So, I made this bow ring instead, with long, twisting tails—just like the bow I lost. A little reminder of the girls we used to be.
